This college is one of the first institutions started by Dr. Patangrao Kadam, the organizer of Bharati Vidyapeeth in 1978. It had permanent affiliation with University of Pune till 1996. In recognition of the academic excellence of a bunch of 12 colleges of Bharati Vidyaeeth, the Govt. of India, on the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, granted in April 1996, the Deemed-to-be University status to them. The New Law College of the Bharati Vidyapeeth, being one of those 12 colleges, became the component part of Bharati Vidyaeeth university.
Other Highlights: Moot court society: The College encourages students to participate in intra and inter class, as well as, interuniversity moot court and moot trial competitions.
The Teaching method adopted, involves besides lectures, group discussions, seminars, case studies and project work. A special N.S.S. scheme is introduced for 50 students.
The college offers the following academic programmes: - LL.B. (Five year course) for students who have passed the 12th standard examination
- LL.B. (Three year course) for graduates in any faculty
- LLM. (Two year postgraduate course) for students having LLB. Degree.

(P.G. course) 2 40 Law Graduate of Recognized University 8) PhD. Minimum. 2 years - LL.M. Admission steps: - Students will be admitted to LL.B (3 and 5 Years) courses of Bharati Vidyapeeth University's New Law College, Pune on the basis of the merit obtained by them in the All India Common Entrance Test (CET).
- CET APPLICATION FORMS: A candidate wants of appearing in the CET is needed to complete the prescribed application form available from the University offices and submit the same to the University, on or before the scheduled dates.
- CET EXAMINATION: CET will be conducted on assigned dates at the examination centers in Pune and Delhi. The exact location and address of the Examination Centre will be communicated to the candidate through his admission card.
- MERIT LIST: The University will make a merit list of the candidates appeared for CET in accordance with the total marks got by them. The candidates will be called in for counseling as per their ranking in this list.
- COUSELLING AND ON-THE-SPOT-ADMISSION SESSION: The counseling sessions will be conducted at Bharati Vidyapeeth University New Law College, Erandwane, and Pune 411038. As per the schedule given in the application brochure. Failure to report for counseling on the scheduled date and time will result in instantaneous cancellation of a claim of the candidate to THE SEAT. - Admission to all other continuing courses is offered directly by the Principal of the New Law College, Pune 38.
